The weather is starting to heat up and it’s time for our winter wardrobes to make way for stunning summer outfits. You want to sizzle this summer, for your style and not from the sun so it’s important to think beyond just the appearance of your clothing choices.
Often when we hit the shops looking for that stunning summer fashion the last thing on our minds is the fabric. In the heat we sweat more so it is important to consider breathable, natural fabrics. Cotton, linen, silk and even super-thin denim are great choices. Poly-blends aren’t breathable so they hold onto sweat stains and the odor that often goes with them. To stay cool and fresh on hot and humid summer days go natural!
Bohemian is the hottest style tip for me, it’s a staple in my summer wardrobe and has been for more decades than I care to count. It’s floaty, feminine and versatile. Bohemian can be paired with many other styles to change your look and go from casual day wear to smart evening wear. What makes Bohemian such a stunning style choice is its simplicity.
Floaty cotton tops, flowing skirts and roomy harem pants. Love, love, love.
White is definitely not my ultimate go to shade because I have young children who are often grotty and love to put their hands all over me, but for those who don’t have magnificently messy little people in their lives then white is a fabulous option for summer.
The little white dress is generally lightweight and cool because it reflects the sunlight and is a creative canvas for accessories. White tops, white pants, white skirts and they all pair perfectly with everything. You could do white tank with denim shorts or skirt, white pants or skirt with a nautical tee. The possibilities are endless.
Prints are another style choice I am always happy to make. Vibrant, bold and colourful they scream summer and are often absolute head turners. Prints are a style choice best paired with something a little understated to really make them stand out.
My favourite ways to wear prints would be harem pants or maxi dresses. In the heat of summer I love nothing more than a cool, billowy maxi dress in a bold print. There are some great options for dresses online and my hardest choice is always which one I like the most.
I have done a bit of surfing and searching and reading and I came across an interesting tip that I never would have thought of so wanted to share it here in this fifth style tip. Shoes can really be the make or break of an outfit. I know, for me anyway, when I’m not sure of my shoe choice I comfort myself with the thought that no-one will be looking at my feet and I do believe that’s true…but I also believe that the shoe can make or break the look.
Strappy sandals are sensational both in heels and flats but remember that they can also be slippery with sweaty feet so if you will be walking in them for long periods keep comfort in mind.
The hot shoe tip I found is that you should always buy summer shoes a little larger than your winter shoes. In summer our feet swell, not something you may pay a lot of attention to but it’s a sometimes uncomfortable way of life, so when you are shopping for your summer shoes leave a little room. Natural materials will stretch a little so allow an extra half size for leather, suede and canvas. Man-made materials like plastic and faux leather you should allow a full size.
I’m not a slave to the latest trends or fashion must haves but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to look stylish while being comfortable and cool in summer. These simple style tips will allow you to stay on top of the game without enslaving yourself to the next 5-minute fashion.
