Donny Galella is a well known stylist and one of Westfield’s resident fashion experts. With a vast amount of experience in the fashion industry, Donny has his own label titled GALELLA as well as styling for photo shoots, fashion shows red carpets and hosting, making him an expert in his field.

We were lucky enough to get some tips from Donny Galella, and in the following guest post he shares his insight and answers the question “what do I wear with…”

What do I Wear With Leggings or Skinny Jeans?

Leggings and skinny jeans are so easy to wear, given their fitted nature you can get away with wearing tops that are a little more relaxed and un-structured. I love these two relaxed tops from Sportscraft and Just Jeans.

The animal print soft drape blazer from Cotton On would look great over some white skinny jeans with a crisp white blouse, add some coloured heels for an injection of colour.

If you’re looking for a brand new pair of skinny jeans, I suggest trying JeansWest, Bardot and a Levis store. Keep in mind that dark coloured denims are much more flattering on the body.

What Do I Wear with Denim Shorts?

Denim shorts are back big time this summer, wear them casually with some sandals or flats or why not dress them up with a cute wedge style shoes and blouse.

This summer my favourite way to style denim shorts is by channeling a nautical vibe. Start by finding a cute dark denim pair of shorts, add a stripe top and some red wedge shoes or a red bag.

If you are looking for a new pair of denim shorts try Forever New, Sportsgirl or Espirit. Try find a pair made from stretch denim and avoid the worn out, frayed styles. These are not as versatile, which makes them harder to dress up and down.

What Do I Wear with Prints?

Whether you wear stripes, polka dots, animal prints, floral or geometric prints, prints are not only on trend but super flattering as they can help to camouflage any lumps and bumps on your body.

If you are wearing a print item, such as a print dress, or print skirt. Try keep your accessories simple and solid.
A nude shoe will always work with a print and they will also help to elongate your legs.

If you are wearing a print dress and feel the print overwhelms your body, then add a black belt, shoe and clutch to help break up the print.

What do I Wear With Bathers?

Summer can be a daunting time of year, as we need to flash some extra flesh. An easy to wear, casual style dress such as a maxi dress or cute floaty floral print dress, can simply be worn over your swimmers for some extra coverage.

An oversized pair of sunglasses and oversized wide brim hat will not only look fabulous but will protect you from the sun.

A sarong or kaftan is another great option to wear over your swimmers.  You can never go wrong with a crisp white kaftan, a pair of black oversized sunnies and some tan sandals.

If you feel self conscious about your lower half, then divert the attention to your top half. Wear a bright hat, statement sunglasses or necklace.

What Do I Wear With a Little Black Dress?

Every girl should have a LBD or two (or more). A LBD is always an easy yet chic option, for summer the trick is to make your LBD come to life with colourful and bold accessories. Think of your LBD like a blank canvas, then use accessories to create a fashion masterpiece.
