Designers love Merino wool and it is no wonder – it creates beautifully soft pieces and it is extremely high quality and durable.
While clothing made from Merino wool is at a higher price point there are more than a few good reasons why you should put back that $5 t-shirt and invest in something better.
Before I go through the benefits and sustainability of Merino, take a look at this short video which features “The World’s Finest Wool”:
To begin with, did you know that 80% of the world’s Merino Wool comes from right here in Australia? Merino is a natural fibre (sourced from Merino sheep) and is a renewable resource. Think of it like a sheep having a haircut. The alternative is synthetic fibres which come from non renewable oil and have a negative impact on our planet.
If the green factor isn’t enough for you, Merino Wool is breathable, warm in winter and cool in summer (clever), the colour lasts and so does the shape. Oh, and did I mention soft? And, it’s perfect for baby-wear!
Have you worn Merino Wool pieces?
