LMFF Street Style

The runway is the standard barometer of what’s going to be trending in coming seasons, but what fashionable people are wearing to the shows really captures our interest, revealing how all those runway looks can be interpreted for everyday wear. Here are some of the most striking Street Style looks from the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival – and how you can get them.

Bold, bright colour shows us that Melbournians are definitely not wearing black this season. A block colour teamed with a complementary (or clashing!) print is fresh, vibrant and perfect for cheering up a grey winter’s day.

If it’s not colourful, make it shiny – everything from mirrored accessories to glitzy jackets made an appearance, proving that metallics are here to stay (for another season, at least).

Ladylike looks were showcased everywhere, from 50’s rockabilly quiffs (no doubt inspired by Dita von Teese), to Mad Men-style full skirts and pearls.

And finally, if you’re wearing pants this season, make them printed – floral, stripy, spotted, leopard…anything goes! Play up the print by mixing textures, or pare it back with a crisp white shirt.

  1. I must say I am not loving all of the fashion this season. I do like the colour blocking, but not a fan of it with prints. Each to their own.
