Sue Di Chio is the Director and Designer for Suboo, a brand known for beautiful silk kaftans and beach apparel. It is a busy time for the label as they unveil their first swimwear range for Summer 2012 / 2013. We asked Sue to choose an outfit and describe where she got it and where she would wear it:
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your personal style…
I’m a woman on the go. I wake up at 5.35am most days and do pilates or running before rushing into the office by 8.30am. Work consists of business and creative meetings followed by impromptu dinners with friends or work related events, so my wardrobe and style has to be versatile, relaxed and fashionable. I’m often out all day and night so sky-high stilettos don’t suit my lifestyle. That said, I wear heels most days as they can be worn from office to dinner commitments – there is no need to head home to change between work and social activities.
Accessories – are my fashion saviour for up-styling a casual outfit or revamping an old one, especially cuffs – I have a huge collection that I alternate between daily.
I’m loving capes right now as opposed to jackets that can be to constrictive and heavy. Capes are also really easy to scrunch up and toss in your bag when you’re on the go, or move from outside to indoors.
Hair and make-up can really transform an outfit and personal style. The latest lippy and nail colour add colour and personality to an outfit. It’s a cost and time effective way to emulate the latest runway trends without a major overhaul.
Tell us where you would wear this outfit and why you think it works for you…
I like to wear this outfit to work and play. It can be easily worn to a lunch, relaxed dinner, bar/pub, the movies and/or an industry media launch.
Explain each piece of clothing and tell us where you got it…
– Sass & Bide skinny boy jeans are my staple throw on pants – $260 available from the Sass & Bide Paddington Boutique
– Alexander Wang white t-shirt I purchased on a business trip to LA – $80. I love the brand’s stylish relaxed jersey t-shirts, they’re luxe but affordable.
– Suboo Santiago black lace robe ($189.95) – This robe is my most favourite possession – so much so that I’ve got it in white and black. Not only is it chic, comfortable and relaxed, it has a trans-seasonal look and feel than can be worn for most occasions.
– OPI (Done Out In Deco) – I can’t get enough of the Done Out In Deco OPI nail polish. I love bright colours and my girlfriend gave me this colour for Christmas.
Tell us about Suboo…
Since inception, our brand has evolved from beach accessories to a women’s spring-summer apparel and accessories label. We have found our niche in the market for women that have moved beyond the surf labels of their teens in search of a more stylish label to love.
2012 is going to be an exciting year for us. We’re showcasing at MBFWA for the first time ever, on 4th May 9am at an off-site location where we will be debuting our new swimwear and ready-to-wear product categories. The same SS collection will be showcased at Miami Fashion Week in July.
We have a loyal Australian and international following who have come to love and demand more from our brand’s signature clean lines, original bright prints and understated wearable silhouettes. Australian celebrities Danni Minogue, Miranda Kerr, Delta Goodrem, Jesinta Campbell and Tina Arena have all embraced Suboo so we must be doing something right.
Suboo is currently stocked in Australia, Japan, Singapore USA and UK, and we have more global expansion plans on the horizon.
