Motel – Autumn 2011

No matter where you are in the world now is the change of season, it is a time for unseasonable weather and having to combine your seasons wardrobes. Whether you are in Motel’s hometown in England or my hometown in Australia there is a definite slide happening; whether that be down into the cool of winter or an upward slide into the warmth of Summer here in Australia you need to explore the options of an Autumn fashion line.

The Autumn collection from Motel combines all of the essential elements to ensure that you are ready to take on any weather in this in-between season that’s not quite Summer or Winter. This is a season in fashion renowned for it’s browns and predictable cuts, but not this season and not from Motel.

Motel celebrates the curves of the female body and bodycon style is at the forefront of this collection, alongside a desirable denim range as well as skirts, shorts and tops. The colours are diverse, from florals and prints to blocks in vibrant colours as well as blacks and pastels.

This collection will capture your attention and is sure to have something to flex your fashion flair.

Motel is built on a basis of thrift store culture. The labels mission is to create accessible and well crafted clothing pieces modelled on and inspired by the exclusive vintage fabrics, prints and cuts discovered in the op shops of the area in which Motel was born. Their clothing is designed to enhance and accentuate the female silhouette.

Motel emancipates the nine to five with its glittering call that ‘Fashion is Freedom’. Set light to cookie cutter styles that drag from the catwalk, burn in the kaleidoscopic flames of Motel’s unique fire that winks to the hottest trends, then transforms them into stellar cool garments that will endure.

Flower power of the sixties and seventies is revived in the Cherry Blossom of Motel’s Autumn 2011 collection. The high contrast blooms jump out at you on the Blake Dress with it’s see through shoulder panels and sweet heart body con shape.

Classic 60’s shifts and higher necks, popular with Twiggy, have been updated in the bright red and teal Adelina Dress.

Beautiful Peacock blue is a big feature of this collection, alongside red, teal, peach and black. All eye catching block colours and prints that were immortalised in the sixties, these retro salutes stay true to the left field ‘killer style’ of the Motel brand.

The Cillia Mesh Dress is another piece that must be mentioned! The intricate pattern on this sleek, gossamer paisley is a hand-drawn one-off by Motel’s in house print artist.

Coloured jeans are a hot trend that tends to stick around and two fashion forward tones to keep an eye out for this autumn are Pacific Blue and Maroon, also available are indigo and sky blue washes.

The Rockies print  is another eye catching innovation capturing the autumnal colours and remaining fresh and exciting.

Motel is kicking up a storm across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US. as well as opening an awesome vintage Motel store in Bristol. This is being happily helped along by the conspicuous dresses spotted in the press on female superstars like Eliza Doolittle, Marina and the Diamonds, Little Boots, Pixie Lott and Lily Allen.
