Secrets for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

Secrets has teamed up with FTBC (Fashion Targets Breast Cancer) to release a limited edition collection that’s in stores now. A collection that will raise awareness as well as funds for breast cancer research.

‘Real Beauty’ is the name of the collection and it personifies the confidence, hope and support that forms the heart of breast cancer research and the FTBC Campaign.

The ‘Real Beauty’ Collection features a pendant, earring and ring design set with black and white diamond simulants and 25% of the proceeds from the sale of these designs will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation as part of the 2011 FTBC Campaign.

In Australia annually there are around 14,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer and this collection signifies the basis of the support network each of these women rely upon to get through their battle. Each item in the collection carries a special message. The ‘Circle of Life’ pendant symbolises the endless bond between loved ones and the four black stones represent the cornerstones of a woman’s life – the woman, her family, her friends and her community.

Carole Renouf is the National Breast Cancer Foundation CEO and she said the 2011 FTBC Collection is “fun, fashionable and edgy and incorporates some of our top Australian designers, models and retailers”.

Secrets director Jane Meredith said “Fashion is a powerful means for women to express their support and passion for a cause; this campaign combines the things that are close to our hearts and makes a strong statement about our determination to find a cure,”

“When we think of fashion, we think of beauty, and so the designs celebrate the five elements of what we believe represents ‘real beauty’ in a woman’s life: confidence, love, friendship, joy and peace.”

In a perfect and impossible to ignore message of encouragement to shoppers the campaign says we should ‘add to your wardrobe. You could save a life’. Most women don’t require a lot of encouragement to shop and when it’s targeted at you like that – how could you say no!

“Every time you purchase an item from this exciting range, 25% of your purchase will go towards funding breast cancer research in younger women,” Ms Renouf said.

FTBC was founded by Ralph Lauren in 1996 and it has grown to become a global event that is now supported by some of the world’s leading iconic fashion labels.

The 2011 Australia campaign brings Secrets together with Cue, Seduce, Seafolly, Peeptoe, Cotton On and Metalicus in selling special black and white designs in selected stores until December 31st.
