Profile: Jasmine and Will

Jasmine and Will are an aunt – niece design duo and Jasmine Lindsay chatted with Beauty and Lace for this designer profile:

Who are Jasmine and Will?

Jasmine Lindsay, 25 – accountant by trade, pyjama designer by choice. Kaye Williams, 50 – registered nurse, mother and pyjama queen.

What is it like working with your aunt?

Like Christmas lunch! Full of laughter, and at times slightly chaotic!

What made you decide to focus on lounge wear?

We wanted to step away from the typical frilly nightie and inject fashion and style into sleepwear.

How would you describe your latest collection, “Come Away with Me”?

An uncomplicated blend of nautical and natural… part sailor girl, part country bumpkin.

What are the key pieces from your range?

It’s a mix and match range of fashionable pieces and essential basics.  For instance, we have our classic white t-shirt that can be worn back with any of the shorts or long pants. Easy and chic.

Where do you get your inspiration?

For this range it was our recent holidays. For me this was the Mediterranean and, for Kaye, the country. Hence the navy and white stripes and checks.

What kind of woman would wear Jasmine and Will?

She’s fashionable but not obnoxious. She “keeps it real” and doesn’t mind picking up the milk in her J&W loungewear!

How do you choose your fabrics?

We choose for comfort and quality; fabrics that will last for season after season. For summer, we’ve opted for organic materials where possible, and our cottons are super soft against your skin.

How would you describe your personal style?

Well apart from wearing our loungewear the majority of the time…I wear lots of basics and love layering, with bohemian touches.  My latest obsession is statement jewellery.

Kaye is a little more bohemian and courageous with her fashion.  She has an innate ability to pull together an amazing outfit, with just the right amount of edge.

Who are your favorite Australian designers right now?

Kit Willow – for her amazing designs and techniques, and because she’s bang on trend without losing classic appeal.

Alice McCall – her clothing is young, hip and so wearable.

Lisa Ho – I have a jumpsuit that my mum bought from Lisa Ho in the 90s! My (and my mum’s)  Lisa Ho pieces have withstood many a fashion trend!
